Welcome to the first Freeway newsletter! This has been a great year so far for Softpress, and the best is yet to come. At Macworld, we announced the immediate availability of the Freeway 5 public beta. The feedback has been overwhelmingly positive, and we look forward to shipping the final version on March 27th. You can get your hands on the beta here. While you're exploring it, please give us some feedback on any problems you find and about what you'd like to see in the future. New pricing announcedWe’ve also introduced new pricing for Freeway Pro and Freeway Express. During the beta period, all registered users of Freeway 4 can upgrade to version 5 for $69 (Freeway Pro) and $39 (Freeway Express). Additionally, registered users of Freeway 4 Express can upgrade to Freeway 5 Pro for $129. Of course, these prices are only good until we officially release Freeway 5, so place your order now. Don't forget, we offer special discounts for education users and seniors (over 60). Freeway Tricks - Embedding a photo gallery from Aperture or iPhoto into a Freeway pageAre you an Aperture or iPhoto user? Do you want to embed rich media galleries into your Freeway page? If so, the secret is iFrames. iFrames are a standard web convention which allow you to embed a webpage into another page. Read more about them at wikipedia. They're fairly easy to set up and there's a Freeway Action to make it even easier. Get the Action here. Next, make and post your slideshow. From Aperture or iPhoto, create an album of images you'd like to use or select one you already have. There's no limit to the number of images you can use, so have at it! Using the free Flash Album Exporter, export your album to a folder. Next, simply upload this to your web server using an FTP client (we love Transmit, but anything will work here). Be sure to make a note of the URL for the gallery you've just created (for example - mywebserver.com/gallery/). Back in Freeway, choose a blank area in your page for the gallery. Choose Insert>Action Item>iFrame. Make the box as big as you like, then select the Action Inspector from the Window menu. Enter the URL for your gallery, customize the display settings, and publish your site. That's it!
