Freeway Actions are plug-ins that allow you to create complex JavaScript effects, advanced server-side applications, and much more, all without writing any code by hand.

Want to create a “slide show” of linked pages, with a back and next button on each one? Simply apply the Link To Page Action to your buttons, and Freeway Pro will construct the links for you. Rearrange the order of pages in your site, and all the links will be rewritten to match.

Freeway Pro includes over 30 Softpress Actions in the basic install. There are also hundreds of additional Actions available for free from this site, or as shareware from one of several third-party Action developers.

Roll Your Own

You can even write your own Actions if you like! A complete set of programmer’s documentation is available, and the syntax and concepts will be familiar to anyone who has ever written JavaScript. Freeway Pro uses the standards-based Mozilla JavaScript engine to interpret Actions at publish time.

If you work with a regular library of code, be it JavaScript or one of the server-side programming languages like PHP or ASP, your code can be converted into Actions once, and then used over and over without tinkering!

Four Clicks – Zero Code

Four Clicks – Zero Code

Start by stacking two objects in Freeway that represent the states of your rollover. These can be text boxes, as above, or button images made in another application.

1. Apply the Rollover Action to the topmost object.

2. In the Actions palette, click on MouseOver to highlight that column.

3, 4. Click on the check marks to set which image in your stack will appear when.

You’re done. And the finished rollover can be moved around the page as you refine the layout, or copied and pasted to another page, all without losing any of the code you didn’t have to write!

Freeway Express and Actions

Freeway Express ships with the same set of Actions as Freeway Pro. However, you cannot add new Actions to your collection unless they have been specially encoded. If you want to use Actions that are not encoded or develop your own Actions, you will need Freeway Pro.
